The Big Three: Navigating the 11+ Digital Revision Platforms
In the current admissions cycle, the independent school revision landscape is dominated by three primary digital revision platforms: Atom Learning, Bond Century Tech, and Planet BOFA. These platforms have replaced traditional paper-based reasoning tests for the vast majority of top-tier schools, making use of adaptive algorithms to measure a child's true academic potential.
While these platforms offer a broad range of support, my consultancy focuses specifically on mastering the most common and high-stakes assessment formats:
-
The ISEB Common Pre-Test: The universal standard used by schools such as New Hall School. Others, such as Eton, use the ISEB as an initial stage assessment. It is a rigorous, adaptive test covering English, Maths, Verbal, and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
-
The Quest Assessment: A newer, sophisticated assessment format (developed by Atom Learning) that is increasingly being adopted by prestigious day and boarding schools such as Chigwell School to test creative comprehension and problem-solving and boarding schools such as the venerable Harrow to select candidates.
-
Several schools use other assessment platforms such as the GL Adaptive Admission Test (AAT) used by Brentwood School to test candidates in English and mathematics.
-
Many schools combine aspects of these tests with their own internal assessment such as creative writing and an interview stage.
The most common mistake parents make is subscribing to multiple platforms simultaneously, leading to "digital fatigue" and overlapping curriculum work. Each platform has a distinct "personality" and technical specialty.
The following guide is designed to help you choose the single most effective tool for your child’s target schools, while highlighting the hidden tiers and additional costs that are often buried in the fine print.

The Printed Foundation
While mastering the digital platform your child will be using is a non-negotiable for the 2026 admission process, the highest levels of academic resilience are built away from the screen. I always balance our digital strategy with the industry's most rigorous physical publications:
-
Bond 11+: The UK's most trusted name in assessment. We utilise Bond’s physical workbooks for topic-specific mastery and structured practice, providing an essential tactile bridge to the content seen on the Century Tech platform.
-
Galore Park: The official publisher for the ISEB. Their physical resources remain the gold standard for deep curriculum mastery and preparing for traditional written Common Entrance papers.
-
Schofield & Sims: Highly respected for building core reasoning skills and handwriting stamina. We use these to counterbalance "digital fatigue" and ensure students remain versatile under pressure.
All digital platforms listed above include comprehensive general curriculum support. As part of our bespoke consultancy, I personally oversee the digital and physical configuration for each student to ensure maximum benefit.
A Note on "Digital Exhaustion"
While these tools are essential for mastering the interface of the exam, they should never be the entirety of a child's preparation. In my practice, I utilise these platforms for algorithmic familiarisation and data-driven gap analysis, but we always balance this with high-quality printed materials and handwritten mastery to ensure your child remains a versatile and resilient learner.
